Department Introduction
Our department investigates the interactions between chemicals and biological systems in terms of harmful outcomes and determines the safety thresholds of chemical substances. Every chemical can exert toxic effects depending on its dose at the site of action. Therefore, the scope of toxicology extends across a wide range, including drugs, cosmetics, pesticides, food additives, household cleaning agents, and industrial chemicals.
Additionally, toxicology is concerned with adverse and side effects of drugs, toxic drug interactions, drug overdoses and abuse, environmental and industrial pollution, and occupational health. With the increasing use of chemicals in modern life, the importance of toxicology continues to grow. Our department collaborates with other departments to conduct various research projects.
